What are the lumpy bits in my herbal extract?
It's very normal to find sediment in the herbal extracts.
This often collects at the bottom of the bottle, or on the end of the dropper. When the bottle is shaken it breaks up and is dispersed.
Sediment does not affect the quality or safety of the product, nor is harmful to consume.
I have some leftovers, how can I use these?
Peri Prep Oil: this can be used on the skin of your blooming belly whilst pregnant. It can also be used on baby's scalp to help soften cradle cap overnight before using a gentle brush or wet cloth to lift off. You may also use this oil to nourish the contracting skin your belly during postpartum.
Labourade: this is also beneficial in those early days postpartum. It's at this time your body is still in recovery mode and beginning the gradual loss of excess fluid after pregnancy.
It can also be used like any other electrolyte powder. Great in times of excessive sweating or fluid loss with vomiting/illness.
Nip Stick: this can be used as a lip balm and for any dry, chaffed skin. The boys in my house use it for wetsuit rashes after surfing!
Padsicle Gel: this can be used for any inflamed or grazed skin. The aloe vera base can also help soothe sunburn or chaffed skin.
Peri Spray: this can used for skin irritations; sunburn, heat fuelled nappy rash, grazes or burns!
Raspberry Leaf: the tea can be drunk throughout postpartum to help with involution of the uterus and afterpains. Drink 2-3 cups per day for this for the first 7-10 days postpartum.
The herbal extract/glycetract may also be used for this purpose. Take 5ml, 2-3 x day for the first 7-10 days after birth.
What are the Clean Birth Kits and where does my donation go?
The Mamawise Store is a proud supporter of Birthing Kit Foundation Australia (BKFA)
This partnership with the not-for-profit, humanitarian organisation began in 2015 under the name of The BodyWise BirthWise Store.
This has continued throughout the rebrand in 2022 to The MamaWise Store.
BKFA works with Australian and global partners to pack and supply Clean Birth Kits to pregnant women living in rural communities and low-resource settings around the world.
To date, 2.5 million Clean Birth Kits have been distributed to women in need.
Donations that are made via the Checkout page are collected and paid as a lump sum to BKFA once a year.
You can read more about the Clean Birth Kits here.
Are your products cruelty-free?
The Mamawise Store does not use products and/or ingredients that have been tested on animals.
Do the herbal teas contain gluten or caffeine?
All of the herbal tea blends are naturally caffeine free and gluten free.
Where do I recycle the pouches?
The pouches can be deposited into the REDCycle collections bins located at most Coles and Woolworths supermarkets - at over 1900 locations Australia wide.
Find your closest location here.
Why is Fenugreek optional in the Mama's Milk products?
Fenugreek has been excluded from the Mama's Milk Herbal Tea and is optional in the Mama's Milk Herbal Extract.
Taking Fenugreek may be an issue for some women who have PCOS, blood sugar problems, clotting problems or diabetes. In these circumstance it's recommended to use Fenugreek under the guidance of your GP.
Some women and/or their babies are sensitive to Fenugreek.
Some mums notice their baby is fussy and/or has green, watery stools, and that these symptoms go away when they discontinue the Fenugreek.
Fenugreek can cause some digestive upset in some mums, so it’s possible for it to cause tummy symptoms in baby too.
How long will it take for my milk supply to increase?
Please note the results do vary, depending on the breastfeeding dynamic and individual circumstances.
Most women report noticing a change within 2 or 3 days.
If drinking the Mama's Milk Herbal Tea try making a large batch (a day's worth) in the morning. This way it can continually brew over the day for a full extraction of the herbs.
Discard any leftovers after 24 hours.
If no great change is noticeable after taking the 4 cups of Mama's Milk Herbal Tea daily for a few days, then consider switching to the more potent Herbal Extract form.
Can I use the herbal extracts if I'm on prescribed medication?
Some herbal medicines are contraindicated with some prescription medicines.
Therefore the questionnaire must be completed to ensure suitability.
You'll be prompted to complete this when adding these products to your cart. If your order is placed without completing the questionaire it will remain pending and can not be processed.
Please also see the Disclaimer & Terms of Service for more information.
How can I reuse the packaging?
Glass, amber bottles
These can be washed out with warm, soapy water and reused, repurposed or recycled. Add a spray nozzle lid to the 500ml bottle and use for DIY cleaning solutions, e.g vinegar with water and lemon and/or eucalyptus essential oils. Or fill from bulk home eco-cleaning solutions at health stores. Or store your DIY massage oil blend in them.
Cylinders
Repurpose these for any dried products; more herbal tea, spices, salts, seeds, cereals, baking goods, bath salts or washing powder. In my house, they've been used as a pen holder, a money jar and even for scrunchie storage!
Otherwise they are biodegradable.
Plastic bottles
Keep the atomiser spray bottle, rinse out and use as a face mist, or for your indoor plants! Keep the pump bottle and use for hand soap or lotion. Reuse the containers for storage, or the powder shaker bottle for DIY herb seasoning blend.
